Internationally acclaimed choral conductor, Mark Vuorinen has been appointed Artistic Director of the Elora Festival and the Elora Singers.
“I am delighted to be working with the renowned Elora Singers, says Vuorinen. The singers are an extremely versatile ensemble, switching between difficult contemporary music to Renaissance polyphony and baroque oratorio with ease. I am honoured and privileged to lead one of this country’s finest choral ensembles and look forward to getting started with them at this summer’s Elora Festival”.
Vuorinen studied music at Wilfrid Laurier University, Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music (M.M.) and the University of Toronto (DM.A.) He is Assistant Professor of Music at Conrad Grebel College and the Artistic Director of the Grand Philharmonic Choir in Waterloo Region.
“In its 40th year, the Elora Festival has a rich tradition of attracting world class artists and delivering extraordinary musical performances in a beautiful setting” says Chris Sharpe, General Manager. “We are excited to welcome Mark to the podium”.
