Tenor Chris Fischer (they/them) has earned a reputation as an intelligent, flexible, and sensitive performer on the concert stage for more than twenty-five years. The holder of BMus and MMus degrees in vocal performance and choral conducting, they have featured as a soloist in over two dozen major works for choir and orchestra, including Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Britten’s Saint Nicolas, Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

Chris has participated in several Canadian and North American premiere performances: Jan Dismas Zelenka’s Missa Omnia Sanctorum, with the Menno Singers and Nota Bene Players; Andrew T. Miller’s The Birth of Christ (Gabriel), with Masterworks of Oakville; Craig Hella Johnson’s Considering Matthew Shepard, with the University of Waterloo Chamber Choir; and Reena Esmail’s This Love Between Us with the Elora Singers.

Operatic credits have included the title role in Bernstein’s Candide (Grand Philharmonic Choir and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony), King Kaspar in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors (London Village Opera), Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro (Guelph Symphony Orchestra), and Richard Dauntless in Ruddigore and Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, both with the Waterloo Region Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

Chris has sung with The Elora Singers since 2012, appearing with the ensemble on nine recordings, and since 2018 they have been the Collaborative Pianist for the Rainbow Chorus of Waterloo-Wellington, the largest 2SLGBTQIA+ chorus in Canada located outside a major metropolitan centre. They are also the full-time Minister of Music at London’s First-St. Andrew’s United Church.
