The Elora Singers at the Elora Festival
The Elora Singers are the ensemble-in-residence at the Elora Festival each summer, in addition to presenting a year-long concert series, producing recordings, and touring across Canada and the world. The ensemble is featured in many concerts throughout the summer festival, as well as taking part in collaborative projects with renowned artists from around the world.

Opening Night Gala: The Genius of Mozart

Join us for an extraordinary evening of incredible music as we open the 46th Elora Festival with the brilliance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert opens with movements from his incomparable opera, Idomeneo, and continues with the elegant and radiant Piano Concerto in A Major, K.488, a work of sublime beauty and lyricism. Be captivated by sensational South Korean-Canadian pianist, Chelsea Ahn, in this work known for the emotional depth of its beloved Adagio movement.
The evening continues with the majestic and powerful Mass in C Minor, K.427. Often called the “Great Mass”, this monumental choral work from 1783 is a testament to Mozart’s mastery of sacred music. With dramatic arias, intricate fugues, and moments of profound spirituality, this Mass showcases the full range of Mozart’s genius.

The Elora Singers welcomes the Junges Vokalensemble Hannover and their conductor, Prof. Klaus-Jürgen Etzold, from Germany for a wide-ranging joint program of music by Eric Whitacre, Imant Raminsh, Andrew Balfour, Timothy Corlis and many others.
Founded by its artistic director Prof. Klaus-Jürgen Etzold, the multi-award winning professional choir, Junges Vokalensemble Hannover, performs a wide range of a cappella work. In addition to sacred and secular a cappella music from the 15th century until today, the choir performs cantatas, masses, oratorios, and passions. The choir has recorded sixteen CDs and performed several world premieres of contemporary compositions, including pieces by Büsing, Dinescu, Fuchs, Wangenheim, Świder, Sixten, Penderecki and Banter.

Join The Elora Singers and instrumentalists for an enchanting morning of music in the Sandy Hills Regional Forest. You will enjoy a magical 45-minute gentle trail walk in the woods where sounds of the morning forest blend with the music of song, as members of The Elora Singers are placed in the forest throughout the trail.
You will be transported by bus to and from the trail. Groups will depart from Grand River Community Church every 20 minutes between 8AM and 9:40AM.

The 46th Elora Festival comes to a close with a spectacular concert of the music of G.F. Handel. His 1713 Te Deum, commemorating the Peace Treaty at Utrecht ending the War of the Spanish Succession, headlines this concert, with virtuosic arias from Handel’s opera and oratorios. Join the baroque soprano, Myriam Leblanc, The Elora Singers, and Musicians of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony in this majestic Festival finale in the iconic Gambrel Barn.
